What's in a Hashtag
Thursday, 25 October 2012 from 18:30 to 21:00 (BST)
London, United Kingdom
This month’s #gagldn will focus on Hashtag marketing. The format of the evening will be 4x10 minute case studies followed by a panel discussion, cupcakes (yes, cupcakes!), drinks and networking.
The case study presentations will be as follows:
Gemma Phelan - DigitalBinx - #citizencurators - A collaboration with the University of Westminster and Museum of London #Citizencurators was a research project which explored using social media to collect and record history. The project received national press coverage and sparked a global debate in the museum world about the use of social media for contemporary collecting.
Cat Turner and Bridey-rae Lipscombe- The Rabbit Agency - #bravenewventures - To co-incide with the premiere of Prometheus, Secret Cinema ran the #bravenewventures campaign, taking their famous flavour of submersive cinema online. The game play resulted in over 22k tickets sales and a whole range of brilliant event coverage as the edges of the real and virtual worlds blurred.
Laila Takeh - UNICEF UK - #sahelNOW was a UNICEF campaign to break the media quietnesss on the emerging crisis in West Africa (the Sahel). It was the first time we aimed to bring together UNICEF offices from around the world to tweet under a single hashtag on a single day. We learnt lots and saw how the campaign gradually spread over times zones and evolved in the hands of our supporters. The campaign flowed into many more days and got coverage from CNN and others.
